An audax ride is a cycle ride that has to be completed within a set time limit, including any stops to eat or rest. It is not a race, if you finish within the given time limit you have been successful.
On an audax, riders are expected to be self-sufficient, navigating yourself on the route choosing where you stop whether it be in a cafe, shop or garage to get supplies. Have a mechanical, it's down to you repair and get yourself home! You do not have to ride on your own ... you can ride in a group.
Selby Cycling Club organises audax events of 100km, 200km and 400km, towards the club omnium event each year.

SCC 100km Audax to Stamford Bridge April 2025
We set off out of Selby and headed for Stamford Bridge which would be our first stop. The sun was shining and the wind was favourable, all riders enjoyed the scenic views as we made our away through the landscape. A stop for a snack in the sunshine before heading to Bossall Church for a quick selfie. It was lunchtime when we arrived in Pocklington, so lunch in the sun fuelling ready for our last ride back to Selby. We finished our ride with a selfie outside Selby Abbey and ice cream.
