Selby Cycle Club members take on the 3 peak cyclocross challenge

In September Stephen, Adam and Steve took part in arguably one of the hardest cycle challenges in the UK. The three peaks challenge is a mix of climbing, running and riding your bike up the three Yorkshire Peaks of Inglebrough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent.  The weather is rarely kind with rain and wind, but they did the club proud all completing the course.

100th Anniversary Club Rides

Our anniversary weekend had a range of rides heading out from the iconic Selby Abbey on the 16th September.  It may have been a cloudy day with a little bit of rain but that did not stop the  celebrations of our 100th year!  Our 100 mile ride headed out to Easingwold, a 100km ride cycled out to Thixley and a 40 mile route rode to Askham Richard. A great time was had by all riders involved on all the rides, we look forward to the next 100 years!

Selby Cycling Club supports Grass Roots Cycling

Colin Littler (SCC) and Richard Williamson (Velo29) pick the school winners.

The Velo29 Selby Three Swans cycle sportive has been running for ten years as a charity ride for Yorkshire Cancer Research. A small part of the fee is donated to Selby Cycling Club as the founders of the event. We are proud to be able to donate this money to two schools each year in the Selby district to support the delivery of Bikeability to young children.  For schools to be eligible to take part in the draw, they need to be active in the delivery of Bikeability training.

The draw took place on the 3rd September at the event.  Congratulations to Longmans Hill Community Primary School and Thorpe Willoughby Community Primary School.

Last years winners Cliffe Primary School and Riccall Primary School have organised their bikeability training for their students and appreciated this support.

If you would like your school to be included in next years draw then please email info@selbycyclingclub.co.uk.
